Here two worlds meet: the shoehorn made of horn, handcrafted, is connected to a POM rod that was manufactured for mechanical engineering.
The result is a 70cm long, sock-friendly, genuine horn shoehorn with a long handle that's extremely difficult to break. The POM rod is flexible yet sturdy, as these rods are primarily used in mechanical engineering.
The horn part is about 17cm long, is made of either light or predominantly black cow horn, is handmade and also suitable for narrow heels (and shoes).
Engineering plastic POM (Source: Wikipedia)
Polyoxymethylene (POM) is a semi-crystalline, largely linear thermoplastic that can be produced by chain polymerization or chain copolymerization. This plastic is classified as an engineering thermoplastic. This means it has superior mechanical properties compared to standard plastics and is also suitable for technical applications and some construction applications (load-bearing components).
