The horn of the Asian water buffalo, usually black but sometimes streaked with gray, is very strong and dense. It is therefore well suited for woodturning, and is easy to saw and polish to a shine.
We primarily use this material to make shaving brush and razor handles. However, it can also be used to make buttons, art objects, cigarette holders, knife handles, and knife scales.
The horn tips are available in the weight classes 250 to 399 grams, 400-499 grams, 500-699 grams, and 700-900 grams. Please select the desired class from the product options.
The horn tips are between 24 and 50 centimeters long (measured at the outer curve) and the diameter at the base is approximately 30-40 mm x 70-100 mm. The horn tips are rather oval at the base, but usually become more rounded towards the tip.
