Combs as precise as if they were made of plastic. But they are made of South American cattle horn. Their style and design are reminiscent of earlier Irish horn masterpieces from France.
These extraordinarily delicate horn combs are crafted with a precision that is probably unique among horn combs.
The light-colored cattle horn is almost transparent at only about 3 millimeters thick and is unusually elastic for horn.
The cow horn for the Collegial combs is carefully dried for approximately three years in climate-controlled chambers, called humidors, before being processed into combs. This unique and incredibly complex drying technique ensures that these very fine combs will not bend (or at least will bend only barely).
Dimensions of the Collegial A60 "small hair comb":
Total length: 150.0 mm
Height max 30.0 mm
Thickness: (at the back) 3.0 mm
Tooth spacing: 0.5 mm (fine toothing) and 1.0 mm (coarse toothing)
(In contrast to all other combs: here there are no deviations from the specified dimensions (the accuracy is in the 10th of a millimeter range).
Note: the comb is only available in predominantly dark horn.
