Razors – no frills. High-quality materials, honest craftsmanship, and the Dr. Dittmar guarantee have been the foundation of the PUR series' success for almost three years now.
Now also for the safety razor shave with the classic double-sided razor blades:

The blade holder is double-coated—first nickel-plated, then carefully chrome-plated to a high gloss. This ensures that the hypoallergenic, bright chrome plating lasts a long time and won't flake off after a while.

The Dr. Dittmar open-comb safety razor provides a very close shave with medium softness. It's ideal for those who prefer a 2-3-day shave. For daily shaving, the closed-comb safety razor is recommended.

You'll love this razor – it fits comfortably in your hand, its short, thick handle makes it easy to use on both sides, and it offers optimal weight distribution. We strongly recommend using shaving soap when shaving with a safety razor, as only shaving soap (unlike foams or even gels) softens the beard and optimally prepares the skin for the razor shave.

Mass:
Handle length: approx. 70 mm, handle diameter: 15 mm. Weight: approx. 40 grams. All standard razor blades fit. One blade is included.

The history of the safety razor:
King Gillette was a man who, from a young age, systematically worked toward his dream of becoming rich with an idea. It took many years of traveling as a salesman before this happened. At the age of 40, however, a spontaneous idea during his morning shave brought him closer to his goal: a razor with a blade that didn't need sharpening, but could simply be used and discarded. A thin piece of steel, sharpened on both sides, which you could turn over once and then buy a new one. Like his role model William Painter, the inventor of the crown cork, Gillette had imagined a disposable item for everyday use. It took another six years until, in 1901, he found a partner capable of manufacturing the razor blades he had conceived. That same year, he founded The Gillette Company, which began production in 1903. In the first year, 168 blades were sold; the following year, the number had risen to around 90,000 razors and 123,000 blades. In 1917, the US government gave the company a boost with an order for 36 million razor blades for US soldiers fighting in World War I.

So much for the history of the safety razor. (Source: Wikipedia)
Today, the forefather of razors is very popular again because the shave is thorough, relatively safe, very precise on the edges (e.g. with modern "techno beards") and, above all, much cheaper than shaving with system blades such as Mach3 or Fusion.
