This unique shaving set by Dr. Dittmar is only produced in very small quantities. Because the horn that holds the shaving brush must be customized for each brush, the production of the brush and holder requires far more work steps than for standard-sized holders and brushes.
Each piece is therefore prepared entirely by hand. The color of the horn of the holder, brush, and razor handle must also match. Similar to the production of interiors for very expensive cars, horns are selected for each individual set that harmonize in their color scheme. Each set requires three Irish horns of similar color and texture. A further challenge lies in the fact that the final color of the horn only becomes apparent after processing and polishing.
The production process is therefore so complex that large or medium quantities cannot be produced at all.
The shaving brush is, of course, made with the best badger hair available: premium silvertip, tightly bound with a ring diameter of 22.5 mm. The loft height (visible hair length) is approximately 57 mm.
The razor for Gillette Fusion razor blades has a handle length of approximately 11 cm. It is approximately 23 mm thick at the bottom and approximately 15 mm thick at the top. The razor is stored upright in a holder specially made for the handle (made of horn, of course).
