Sure, you can lather your shaving soap in other containers. But it works better in a soap dish that's large enough to prevent the lather from overflowing and that allows enough room for the brush head to move.
This shaving soap bowl is well-suited for brush heads with a ring diameter of up to 22 mm. While its size may not always prevent lather from overflowing, it's comfortable to hold and takes up little space.
Since the bowl is made of stainless steel, nothing can rust or tarnish - an advantage over chrome-plated or nickel-plated bowls made of non-stainless metals.
The handcrafted lid, made of wax-polished cedarwood, protects the shaving soap from drying out and dust. The small knob for lifting the lid is made of solid, chrome-plated brass.
