Snakewood is a very hard and beautiful wood. It polishes perfectly, but is difficult to saw because it is very hard.
Dr. Dittmar was the first to use snakewood (also called tigerwood or nutmeg wood) to make high-quality hair combs. Previously, this wood had only been used in the manufacture of musical instruments or, earlier, very expensive walking sticks.

The wood's exceptional pattern is unique to each comb. The wood is very hard, so the edges are extremely gentle on the hair, and there's no fraying of the wood. This is good for the hair, as this property is equal to that of horn.
In addition, the snakewood combs can absorb human hair grease and thus have an antistatic effect after some time of use.

Combs made of this material are extremely rare—available in Europe only from Rasur-Online. They last virtually forever and are excellent for hair care.

Comb length: 100 mm
Width: 60 mm
Weight: approx. 30 grams
Distance between prongs: approx. 1.5mm

Tigerwood lexicon:
Letter wood (letter wood, snakewood, tigerwood), a reddish-brown wood [* 4] native to South America [* 3] (Suriname and Guyana) with black spots resembling letters or snake scales. The best variety is rare and is used only for the most expensive walking sticks. The Dutch call it nutmeg wood because it resembles a sliced nutmeg. It comes from Machaerium Schomburgkii Benth. (Papilionaceae) in Guyana, Piratinera guianensis Aubl. (Urticaceae) or Amanoa guianensis Aubl. (Euphorbia vulgaris).
