Too much sebum (hair oil) on the scalp and too little sebum in the hair causes hair to appear thin. People try to compensate for this by washing their hair daily with oil-removing (caffeine) shampoos and applying volumizing hairsprays or smoothing hair gels.

But all these products (shampoos, gels, and sprays) damage the hair and stick the scalp. There's simply no product that can repair hair, even though advertisements often claim the opposite. Hair only needs to be protected and nourished BEFORE it penetrates the scalp (through a healthy lifestyle). After that, it's "dead" tissue that needs to be cared for and protected. Naturally, the body's own sebum (hair oil) in the scalp is solely responsible for this.

Technically, the only difference to long-hair brushes is that the bristles are inserted "upside down": the cut ends of the bristles are positioned higher than the keratinized roots of the bristles. This allows the boar bristle to absorb more hair oil and distribute it throughout the hair as it is brushed. However, this is precisely why the brush is not suitable for long, very thick hair (here, the keratinized roots of the boar bristle are essential for penetrating the hair and should be positioned higher than the cut end of the bristle).
