Stick comb or decorative comb made of Watusi cattle horn

Handcrafted insert comb made from natural horn material.

Working the natural material horn with such intricate detail is a difficult art. The Watusi cattle horn combs are only approximately 1.8 millimeters thick! At this thin thickness, the horn must be elastic to remain durable and not break easily. Therefore, the grain of the natural horn must be carefully observed for each individual piece.
This type of hair accessory used to be made of tortoiseshell. Horn is a good alternative, although it is considerably more difficult to work with than tortoiseshell. The combs are always unique, thanks to the natural color of the Watusi cattle horn. They are very light (only about 5 grams), and the horn material, unlike plastic or metal, is very similar to hair, so the hair is not damaged.
